Equality is About Pushing Some People Back

Jess Phillips - In Scotland where all of the leadership seats are all women, yeah apart from labor which is now a man. Yeah it's a terrible shame and something has to be done about it.

Even with the majority of positions being held by women, it's not good enough. Something has to be done. Well what is that thing that has to be done and on what grounds do we have to do it? Do we have to simply discriminate against men or a man. The answer of course is, Yes.
Jess Phillips - And the only way that something will be done about it is if we change the rules to make it be a woman or if some of the men decided that they're not gonna push themselves forward.

The only way she thinks that a woman is going to become the leader of the Labour Party is if the rules are changed to prevent men from becoming the leader of the Labour Party.

Jess Phillips - Equality isn't just about pushing someone forward. It's also about pushing some people back. They take a step backwards.
