2006 Self Made Man: Norah Vincent chooses Female Privilege over Male Privilege

A feminist/lesbian decided to dress and act like a man for 18 months so she could write a book about it. Instead of enjoying privilege, she found being a man sucked. Both men and women were less polite to her and expected her help when called upon. She ended up in therapy over the ordeal. In the end she states that: "I like it more now (being a woman) because I think it's more of a privilege".

Exactly Charlie !!!!! In my younger days I would of stopped and helped anyone. I don't care if they wore a dress or slacks. But in today's culture,,, seeing I'm a white 6' male in good shape. I literally get sneered at for walking up to anyone with a smile on my face. So I don't even bother to hold doors or assist flat tires for dresses. Unless I can see that the lady is above 68 yrs old. Those ladies say (thank you with a truly genuine smile).
I would gladly go back to my younger habits. But I'm not suicidal. When the culture changes,,, then I will revert back to the Smiling James.
