Good song but I had not heard of him...this is what I found...
Wendell H. Austin (April 29th. 1935 – January 13, 2014 in Winn, Maine, USA) was a country and western singer. His backing band was The Country Swings. He is best known for the 1968 novelty song "LSD".

SGT John " Mac " McConnell I was successful in sharing your post with the Norwood, MA Elks Lodge #1124 (and their Facebook page) who have a Veteran based focus as part of their charter, and where my DAV Chapter now holds its meetings. We will be sharing our mutual efforts with them for the good of all Veterans in our Greater Boston Area!

Thank you, my friend SGT John " Mac " McConnell for making us aware that the third Friday in September honors National POW/MIA Recognition Day.
Thanks for making us aware that
1. former President George H. W. Bush was the first President to issue a presidential proclamation [1989] brings the nation together to remember and honor the members of the Armed Forces who remain missing in action or are prisoners of war.
2. Congress established National POW/MIA Recognition Day with the passage of Section 1082 of the 1998 Defense Authorization Act.

The Journal- National POW/MIA Recognition Day
"This week on The Journal… On September 20th Americans will recognize National POW/MIA Recognition Day as we remember and express support for Americans missing and unaccounted for in wartime and their families. We’ll be talking with a family member of a local POW/MIA.…but first we’re joined by Ralph Reynolds - Ohio VFW POW/MIA Chairman."
