Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Zeta Oph" Runaway Star." What is a runaway star? Data suggests that Zeta Ophiuchi was once
part of a double-star system, and its one-time partner was a more massive star. When this star exploded, the impact sent Zeta Oph off in an opposite direction at an estimated speed of 24 kilometers/15 miles per second. This motion produces an arcing interstellar bow wave or bow shock as seen in this infrared portrait from the Spitzer Space Telescope. Zeta Oph lies 460 light years away in the constellation Ophiuchus.
Launched in 2003, Spitzer was retired last week after completing an extended 16 year mission. This makes way for the new James Webb Telescope and its anticipated launch date in 2021.

Well said PO3 Phyllis Maynard. And taking one step further, I think the point you raise suggests that we all have something to teach each person that we meet. I try to remember that, especially when dealing with those I tend to avoid. I don't want to miss the lesson.
