Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Messier 20 and 21." Both are located in the constellation Sagittarius about 5,000 light years away, so today's image is the best we can do until next August. Messier 21 (M21) is the star cluster in the upper left. Its stars are approximately 8 million years old. Messier 20 (M20), also known as the Trifid Nebula, dominates the photo. Its stars are only 300,000 years old, making it one of the youngest star forming regions in our sky, Both M20 and M21 are easily seen with a small telescope.

This nebula is a good target for beginners, and pretty easy to find.
Wait for a new moon and you can see quite a bit with a 90mm.
