Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day is titled "Ghost Aurora over Canada." This image is from February 2013 along the Hay River at Alexandra Falls in The Northwest Territories, Canada ('morning LTC (Join to see)). Alexandra Falls, along with Louise Falls, forms part of the Twin Falls Gorge Territorial Park. Local native lore says that the two falls are two spirits, Grandmother and Grandfather, who protect the area. I wonder which one decided to pose for this picture?

Good Sunday Morning Maj William W. 'Bill' Price! Stunning photo of the Northwest Territories Aurora!!! There isn't too much to say about this particular Aurora, but I've downloaded the large image and analysed it in Adobe Photoshop... It would appear that the original photo was taken just before dusk as the sky still had a blue look to it...and the grass was green as well. The bland appearance of "Astronomy's" released image was to show a more green tinge against a darker sky, then lighten it up.

Check the slight change I made against the original photo... My image is smaller than Astronomy's image as theirs was 13" by 16"..., but enhances the true color...
