Thank you for sharing LTC (Join to see) a great example how simply being in the news a lot by weighing in on disparate subjects puts you in to somebodies mind.
To some degree this is an indictment on "news broadcasters" who I would not consider to be journalists. It is a broader indictment on those who responded in general - although I expect many put thought into their answers.
Gallop is a trustworthy polling organization. This poll demonstrates that a low percentage of people consider either Barrack Obama or Donald Trump a great person:-)
"Gallup's annual survey, conducted Dec. 3-12 this year, asks Americans, in an open-ended question, to name the man and woman living anywhere in the world today whom they admire most. Gallup first asked the question in 1946 and has done so every year since, except 1976."

It is noteworthy that in all cases respondents selected either friend or relative, other or no opinion significant higher that any candidate
Example for 2018: Barack Obama 19, Donald Trump 13, George W. Bush 2, Pope Francis 2, friend or relative 10, other 25, no opinion 26
Cumulative was 46 for named individuals and 61 for somebody they knew, other or no opinion. This seems to be generally consistent going back 11 years and probably longer.

Here are screen shots of the overall results.
1. 2018-12 Gallop poll most admired man.
2. 2018-12 Gallop poll most admired woman

However, the results show that of those who voted other than personally that a huge statistical percentage chose Donald Trump.
I would expect that the results of asking those who picked Trump or Obama for a second choice would be extremely interesting.
To input my personal bias it would be interesting to find out how many Obama supporters would have thought he could get a third term.
