Good Red Friday morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the April 8th Edition of the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD): "Hale-Bopp: The Great Comet of 1997." My wife and I were living in Northern Virginia twenty-five years ago , and the west side of Dulles International Airport was a short drive away from our home. And it was definitely a low light-pollution zone then (not so now). So we drove out, parked, sat for a while, and just watched. It was nothing short of spectacular. Do you remember Hale-Bopp?

Good morning, Maj William W. 'Bill' Price, and thank you for brining us this spectacular passage of the Hale-Bopp Comet from 1997... I do remember it, and I remembered that it came in to us from somewhere in the Oort Cloud, at the farthest rocky area of our Solar System... I did note that it will not be back until around the year 4380 AD!!! Awesome, Bill!
