FYI: I changed the lead article to this one while doing some additional study on Lt. (j.g.) John T. "Ted" Crosby. Crosby got the Navy Cross for his five-in-a-day performance on 16 April 1945. Maj. Jim Howard got the MOH for his actions on 11 Jan. '44. Although officially credited with two Me-110s and an Fw-190 that day, they also gave him a couple of "probables" and "damaged" enemy fighters as he waded all alone into a gaggle of 30-plus German fighters attacking the 401st BG's B-17 formation. . . .
