APOD: 2020 February 8 - Cosmic Clouds in the Unicorn

Good afternoon, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Cosmic Clouds in the Unicorn." Star forming NGC 2264 is centered framed by reddish emission nebulae (hydrogen gas excited by radiation from the newly formed stars) and bluish reflection nebulae (dust clouds reflecting/diffracting the starlight). I had never heard of Hubble's Variable Nebula (the comet-looking object to the right of center). All of this action is in the constellation Monoceros about 2,700 light years away from us.

Nebula of red dust and blue stars
NGC 2264 which is approximately 2500 light years away, has blue stars surrounded by red dust. The sounds were produced using an ocean machine and a JEN SX100...

I found a great intriguing adjunct short video of NGC 2264, which I believe your followers will find both interesting and fascinating...
