Although the moon has remained largely unchanged during human history, our understanding of it and how it has evolved over time has evolved dramatically. Tha...
Good Thursday Afternoon, Maj William W. 'Bill' Price. I've taken a few minutes from my IT job to share an adjunct Moon Video which shows, not only the Tycho Crater, but many others in a video released by NASA... I believe everyone who watches will better understand the moon and its craters as have been identified by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO)...

That was interesting! I have a question. These meteors are SO huge - and heavy - do they just bounce back off? Where do they go? And why is there a mtn in the center of the crater? It's almost like the meteor had a hole there. it's 1400 hrs - I've had zero sleep, so if this is a dumb question - I apologize.

SP5 Jeannie Carle - Basically they just penetrate the crust of the moon and some parts disintegrate and part of the moon is totally disrupted by the impact, which spreads debris over a huge area... The mound in the center is probably what is left of the object that crashed on the moon... All that said, I would need to confirm my observations with a scientific source... The same thing would happen if celestial object like meteors or comets hit the Earth, but on a greater scale...
