Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "The Hyades Star Cluster." In Greek mythology, the Hyades were the five daughters of Atlas and half-sisters to the Pleiades. The Hyades star cluster consists of a roughly spherical group of hundreds of stars sharing the same age, place of origin, chemical characteristics, and motion through space. The brightest star in this image (Aldebaran) lies only 65 light years away; the cluster itself lies about 150 light years away. Both appear in the constellation Taurus.
