Good Hump Day morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "21st Century M101." Also known as the Pinwheel Galaxy, Messier 101 (M101) lies within the boundaries of the northern constellation Ursa Major (e.g. The Big Dipper), about 25 million light-years away. Today's image is a composite from four space-based telescopes, and is color-coded by X-rays to infrared wavelengths (high to low energies). Data shown is from the Chandra X-Ray Observatory (purple), the Galaxy Evolution Explorer (blue), Hubble Space Telescope (yellow), and the Spitzer Space Telescope (red).
