Whoa! It's 3:00 PM here on the East Coast!!! Where in H3!! did the time go?
I worked my IT job today and was updating Customer server Agent software for its latest revision... This S/W basically monitors and reports any server errors in a large cross section of critical server elements... Thus, I was pretty tied up for about 5 hours... and now am free to initiate my Music Interludes for today... For my first one, I selected a new singer/artist (new to me) by the name of Norah Jones, who loves to write and sing Jazz songs... I have included a short bio-history following my introduction... The song I selected is titled "Flipside" and she co-wrote it... I've included the lyrics, which follows after her short bio-history...
Background:
Norah Jones (born Geethali Norah Jones Shankar; March 30, 1979) is an American singer, songwriter and pianist. She has won multiple awards and has sold more than 50 million records worldwide. Billboard named her the top jazz artist of the 2000s decade. She has won nine Grammy Awards and was ranked 60th on Billboard magazine's artists of the 2000s decade chart.
In 2002, Jones launched her solo music career with the release of Come Away with Me, which was a fusion of jazz with country, blues, folk and pop. It was certified Diamond, selling over 27 million copies. The record earned Jones five Grammy Awards, including the Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist. Her subsequent studio albums — Feels Like Home, released in 2004, Not Too Late, released in 2007, and 2009's The Fall all gained Platinum status, selling over a million copies each. They were also generally well received by critics. Jones's fifth studio album, Little Broken Hearts, was released on April 27, 2012; her sixth, Day Breaks, was released on October 7, 2016. Her seventh studio album, Pick Me Up Off the Floor, is slated to be released May 8, 2020. Jones made her feature film debut as an actress in My Blueberry Nights, which was released in 2007 and was directed by Wong Kar-Wai.
Jones is the daughter of Indian sitar master and composer Ravi Shankar and concert producer Sue Jones, and is the half-sister of fellow musicians Anoushka Shankar and Shubhendra Shankar.
LYRICS:
"Flipside"
I tried to get high, but you wanted me low
Good things are happening, but happening slow
It's some kind of mystery from long ago
I finally know who I'm supposed to be
My mind was locked but I found the key
Hope it don't all slip away from me
Hard times, fine lines
Moments pass by and I cry
Rewind, step behind
It's hard to find the flipside
I can't stand when you tell me to get back
If we're all free, then why does it seem we can't just be?
You saw your reflection all over the news
Your temperature's well past a hundred and two
Put the guns away, or we'll all gonna lose
Stand by, or take flight
Eat or throw your peace pie
Walk on, or be mine
Moments fly by and I cry
I can't stand when you tell me to get back
If we're all free, then why does it seem we can't just be?
I can't stand when you tell me to get back
If we're all free, then why does it seem we can't just be?
