The Filipino and American men and women who fought in the defense of the Phillippines were so brave. After a few weeks, they knew the rest of the US forces weren't coming and they fought valiantly. I've always had the greatest respect for their efforts. Especially General Wainwright. His decision to surrender was a tough one and I'm glad I didn't have to make it.

I watch a movie with Benjamin Brat about the rescue POW from Japanese Army prison in Luzon Philippines the Great Raid. Excellent movie

No offense intended to brave Americans, but the Army Air Force had a TERRIBLE idea about parking aircraft in rows to ease security. So the Japanese had a relatively easy job of strafing parked aircraft in closely packed straight rows. Made taking out the Army Air Force aircraft really easy.

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. - GEN Short got the short end of the stick and was chosen as a scapegoat for the sins of many. The Navy had a similar problem in Pearl Harbor, with its ships anchored in close order and unable to get out to sea quickly.

The British suffered the same blunder. Until they built earthen 3 sided pens for their aircraft. And staggered the ground formations.
