Sounds like a good move. I can definitely see EVs for on base commuting, but sure wouldn't want to try a PCS with one.

I love my EV for San Antonio however the powers than be need to decide, electric for everyone and put money into the upgrading the electric grid or realize we are not to far from people not being able to make it to work. Not just in Texas but Ca and probably others. The grid has become as political as COVID, earlier this fall they said it was stressed and turn out fine on blue led media and at the same time my far right friend said it barely did not crash. I dont particularly believe either.

MAJ Byron Oyler Yes the grid needs work and that's why improving it was part of the infrastructure bill. Unfortunately that's long lead time projects compared to roads and bridges.

For short hops is okay. I would love to see how far those cars go when it's -35 C -30F outside. Remember, Chicago had issues when it was so cold that the cars would not charge in the cold.
The good thing is that We will probably have regime change in november and people will have choices.

Well, at those temps if you dont plug your engine block heater in, or garage the vehicle, you have an in place gas siphon station anyhow.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen I only had one issue with my Dodge caravan. And I don't have an engine block heater but I have one of those miniature starters.I don't look that much bigger than a cell phone. Gasoline powered cars with a good battery can easily start a thirty below zero.
Those vehicles in this article look like they were parked outside not inside the garage. If you have a heated garage then is no problem for the battery to stay warm.
Electrical cars have to have power to heat the battery and to heat the passenger department while internal combustion engines produce tons of heat to keep the passenwarm and the engine warning and normal operating temperature. But your lover is after 7 years. The batteries go bad, so you're gonna be spending.Twenty grand remorter replace a battery.
