I think so too, Fast, Faster, and, "Oh My God!"

On the streets, nothing was faster, than a, Police Radio.

SGT (Join to see) during the 1965 Watts Riot, something was faster. National Guard had roadblocks that said make a left turn or get shot and National Guard had a 30 caliber Browning ready to shoot those who ran the roadblock.

My father was not actually in the riot but he was working at the Los Angeles County jail because he just graduated from the academy the year before. He was a deputy sheriff from 1964 until 19 77 when he was retired on 100% disability. You see pictures here of him at the sheriff's academy, as a bailiff and working as a young sheriff in the LA County Jail. He passed away from cancer in July of 2002.

LTC (Join to see) - Sorry to hear about your father, it's nice to hear he was a law officer.
Most new officers, do start their career working in the lock-up or jail house, I did, for 3 months, waiting for the police academy to start, with two others.
One of them later became my sergeant in the SWAT team and retired, the other one, left the police and went into the fire department and retired.
