APOD: 2022 July 10 - In the Center of the Cats Eye Nebula

Good morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the July 10th edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD): "In the Center of the Cat's Eye Nebula." Located in the northern constellation of Draco, the Cat's Eye Nebula (aka NGC 6543) the northern constellation of Draco, was first discovered by William Herschel on February 15, 1786. William Huggins demonstrated that planetary nebulae such as the Cat's Eye were gaseous (versus stellar) in nature through his spectral analysis of light they emit. This work was first documented on August 29, 1864.
