Just FYI for everyone. I was diagnosed with Prostate cancer in 2014. Since I had "boots on the ground" in Vietnam, the cause given was Agent Orange. It took about 2 1/2 months to receive a 100% disability. That rating stayed in place until I was treated (brachytherapy) and I was determined to be cancer free. I was then down-rated to 20%. I appealed and got boosted to 40% permanent where I am today. In addition I get SMC-K.
Another hint is to see if your are eligible for CRSC. I am and that cuts the tax as CRSC is tax free.

Good luck to all those filing.

MSG Stan Hutchison If the cancer comes back will the V. A. re-evaluate you and increase your percentage back up to 100% or say they cured it so you are basically stuck where you are? That would be a question I would ask them.

SGT Charlie Lee - Thanks for the offer. I went through the regulations and guidelines and it is very explicit. I reach the 40% but no higher. That was Congress's decision. And, yes, if any cancer comes back, I get boosted back up to 100% but, no backpay.
