Article says VA failed to properly vet these providers. Disagree. A PERSON at the VA failed to do their job. That person(s) and their upline need to be getting acquainted with the $18.50 that fast food is paying these days. Personal accountability.

There were contractors involved as well, just saying. That "free enterprise" free market stuff is sometimes a

Agree. Not hammering the VA (exactly). See them once a year for physical, justincase. Always treated well. Beauracrats. If contractors involved, even worse. Where was oversight? What is the saying? You can delegate authority but you can't delegate responsibility. In fairness, a relatively small number of providers involved, but isn't it always the rot at the bottom of the barrel that causes the stench?

VA Secretary press conference, Tuesday, January 18, 2022
VA Secretary Denis McDonough’s monthly press conference.Date: Tuesday, January 18, 2022Time: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ET
Thank you my friend Lt Col Charlie Brown for making us aware of the results of the Federal audit from the Government Accountability Office report released on January 13, 2022.
My VA medical Center at Martingale, WV provides excellent care to me
"A federal audit found that roughly 1,600 medical providers approved to treat veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs' community care program were ineligible to participate because their licenses either had been revoked or suspended, or they were dead.
A Government Accountability Office report released Jan. 13 found that the VA failed to thoroughly vet providers supporting a program that allows veterans to see private doctors under some circumstances."
To be honest I am not surprised that the Federal government is any better at stripping the dead from the rolls than many states are from stripping the dead from voter rolls.

We had a psychologist the VA was referring vets too. Come to find out she wasn’t a psychologist at all. She was a holistic mental healer, whatever that is. Sadly it really screwed up some folks before they figured out what was going on. She had offered to volunteer and the VA never did a background on her or an interview. Just started sending Joe’s to her. Nothing happened to her or the VA over it.
