Good R.E.D. Friday, Maj William W. 'Bill' Price and what a gorgeous Galaxy image you have brought to us this morning!!! I just could not resist finding out more about this beautiful Galaxy and I succeeded with a magnificent relatively short video which highlights Messier M-74, a.k.a. the Phantom Galaxy... This is a Hubblecast presentation and I offer it as an exciting adjunct video for all to watch. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/m6sarXP9YYw
Thank you for sharing this APOD with all of RP!!!
BestOfScience describes this video as follows:
"The galaxy Messier 74 ("The Phantom Galaxy") lies at a distance of over 30 million light years. In this latest image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope the enormous swirls of this stunning spiral galaxy arc across space, adorned with glowing pink regions of hydrogen gas and lit by the pale blue light of millions of newly formed stars.
Messier 74 (also known as NGC 628) is a face-on spiral galaxy in the constellation Pisces. The galaxy contains two clearly-defined spiral arms and is therefore used as an archetypal example of a Grand Design Spiral Galaxy."
I urge your followers and all who are interested to watch this video in FULL SCREEN WITH SOUND UP TO A COMFORTABLE LEVEL... You will travel to M-74 by means of the Hubble Space Telescope's imaging capabilities! I hope all who watch this, thoroughly enjoy it...
Kerry

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. - They had given me a choice. The outside provider was about three months longer wait than the VA.

Sgt (Join to see) - Who knows? I was turned away yesterday for a 101.3F temperature. It was withing one degree of normal body temperature, and higher that my usual 97.6F degrees. I went back to my truck, There, I read 103.6F. I started the truck. In under two minutes, I was back to normal temperature. It hadn't even cooled down completely by then. I have to take my shirt off when I get home, if I have to carry food or other items into the house, or I overheat. Yet, some idiot desk jockey sets an inflexible protocol, so I'll likely not see that doctor again, until winter. I was one degree high the prvious visit, and was almost refused. What don't they get that an old, overweight nman can't shed extra heat in 30 seconds in high heat and humidity?

Hawkwind's Spiral Galaxy and the visions of SPACE...Eye candy & ear candy.
Thank you my space-exploration advocate friend Maj William W. 'Bill' Price for posting the NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) for Friday, August 13, 2021 entitled "A Perfect Spiral."

Glory to God for HIS creation of the heavens and earth.
APOD background
"Explanation: If not perfect then this spiral galaxy is at least one of the most photogenic. An island universe of about 100 billion stars, 32 million light-years away toward the constellation Pisces, M74 presents a gorgeous face-on view. Classified as an Sc galaxy, the grand design of M74's graceful spiral arms are traced by bright blue star clusters and dark cosmic dust lanes. This sharp composite was constructed from image data recorded by the Hubble Space Telescope's Advanced Camera for Surveys. Spanning about 30,000 light-years across the face of M74, it includes exposures recording emission from hydrogen atoms, highlighting the reddish glow of the galaxy's large star-forming regions. With a lower surface brightness than most galaxies in the Messier catalog, M74 is sometimes known as the Phantom Galaxy.
Thank you my friend Sgt (Join to see) for mentioning me.
