From memory, Queen Boudica's army was quite sizeable 200,000 vs 10,000 Romans. The estimates vary according to various sources. The Romans were protected by forests in the rear and flanks. Queen Boudica's army required space to maneuver chariots. However, her army was so large that it ended up crushing itself forward into the Romans. This was perfect for the Romans as they fought in tight formations and essentially became a meat grinder. Thus, Queen Boudica was defeated.
