It's a shock going from service life back to the real world. I didn't have much trouble transitioning but missed all the guys my age to hang around with. I feel for the guys coming back from Viet Nam, in battle 1 day on a plane home the next and back on the street within 4 or 5 days. It's lucky many of them survived. No wonder there is a lot of ptsd among those vets.
