APOD: 2020 February 24 - Moon Corona, Halo, and Arcs over Manitoba

Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Moon Corona, Halo, and Arcs over Manitoba." Light and water create this phenomenal palette of color in the skies over Manitoba, Canada. My favorites are the moon dogs (to the left and right). Small drops of water or ice crystals near the direction of the Moon produce the rings about the Moon (called a corona). A separate second halo is created by moonlight refracting through other ice crystals. Horizontal ice crystals produce the tangential arcs at the top and bottom. Sights like these make it worth getting up early in the morning.
