APOD: 2019 September 19 - Along the Western Veil

Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Along the Western Veil." The Veil Nebula itself is a large supernova remnant, an expanding cloud born of the death explosion of a massive star some 5,000 years ago towards the constellation Cygnus. Brighter parts of the Western Veil are recognized as separate nebulae, shown here are The Witch's Broom (NGC 6960) along the top and Pickering's Triangle (NGC 6979) below and left. The reds and blue/blue-greens indicate atomic hydrogen and oxygen respectively.
