Great motivational quotes on risk, Mike! Roosevelt had a famous quote which I believe most veterans exhibit whether they know the quote or not.

“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.”
― Theodore Rooseveit

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - Teddy could come up with some terrific lines, almost poetic. His language was dignified like Churchill. I also liked the fact that both he and his son were awarded the Medal of Honor.

Since Teddy and his Rough Riders spent a bit of time here in Tampa before heading off to war he's somewhat of a local hero. Probably learned more about him since moving here than I ever did in school.

There is a similar quote that is attributed to Eleanor in one place but most books say it is from Teddy. It is:
“The credit belongs to those who are actually in the arena, who strive valiantly; who know the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, and spend themselves in a worthy cause; who at best know the triumph of high achievement; and who, at worst, if they fail, fail while daring greatly, so that their place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.”

Timely- setting out starting Sunday- will only be home for about 4 day during the next 30+ days. Work class and a field exercise are in my direct future. I am picking the sunrise/sunset quote today. Need to try to catch them more often. Happy Wednesday to you and yours COL Mikel J. Burroughs
