Highly motivating! I was reading this little gem the other day about becoming:

"I really feel sorry for the many men who are surrounded by people who flatter them all the time. In Chinese we have a golden proverb: "The true friend is the one who shows you how to bow down. Because you cannot enter the cave of treasures without bowing at the opening. And the true enemy is the one who flatters you. Because you cannot enter the cave of treasures standing tall with pride." At the end of the day, it is those that flatter you who keep you away from the true treasures in your life. In the culture we all live in today, we are taught to surround ourselves by people "who believe in us". That is true to some extent. But in reality, there are many times when the people around us ought to slap us in the face because we are being idiots. This seems to be particularly prevalent amongst men. In their quest to build a kingdom, they surround themselves with peasants. But this is not how to build a kingdom. In order to build a kingdom, surround yourself with knights. True friends who will protect you, even if it means protecting you from your own wayward self.”

I know people of lower rand that get mad when you do not stroke their ego all the time. Because they are so busy stroking their own egos. Those are the people who have continuous problems with not just egos but also problems with depression and need to get help. If they do not recognize that the need the help then they are in very serious need of help.

That also should have said of a lower branch or rank. They do not have to be people in a high rank situation to be that way.

Believe in yourself, not only in swimming, but in life itself. You always have to have fun. You have to have an open mind. If you're not enjoying it, don't do it. Life's too short. - Debbie Meyer

Funny I took a personality test for one of the courses I am in yesterday. While several things are spot on, several seemed foreign to me. I put notes in the margins and sent to peers, supervisors, and subordinates to see where they graded me. I have gotten some interesting things back that I did not see about me. Nothing negative- just things I did not think about others see. Believing in yourself is the first step towards any real life growth. Been an eye opening week. Great thoughts and quotes once again COL Mikel J. Burroughs
