What does it mean to be an "AMERICAN CITIZEN" in 2020?

There are unique distinguishing factors to our existence in the world as an American in these United States. What is there to know and understand in what it is to be an American Citizen?

SMSgt Billy Cesarano Depends if you ask Conservatives or Liberals, Republicans or Democrats. Most in Republican Party believe there’s a process involving vetting and paperwork and an oath to the United States. It was like belonging to an important family because all swore allegiance to the USA as she stood. "I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America. ”
That used to be special.
To think that anyone could be a visitor or illegal immigrant to this land, birth a baby on soil and it would be an automatic citizen is insanity. This is what inspires corruption like the Chinese birthing houses on American soil. There are factions in the US who support this premise, plus anyone that can successfully sneak or be transported into the USA, is like an American citizen or equal to one. Thus those who have not contracted by oath and allegiance to our country receive nearly all benefits of the citizens via weak laws and sanctuary cities, ie free schooling, government funding, voting rights, drivers licenses, access to labor, etc. So becoming a real American citizen is less wondrous than it used to be. Hopefully order will be restored.

Although an infant born in the USA is indeed an American Citizen, his parents DO NOT. The baby can stay in the US but the parents and if the parents decide to leave the child here, he/she cannot file a petition until they have reached the age of 21. Jus soli is a Latin term that means law of the soil. Many countries follow the system of jus soli or more commonly known as, birthright citizenship. Under this concept, citizenship of a person is determined by the place where a person was born. Jus soli is the most common means a person acquires citizenship of a nation.

No, that is entirely false. I hesitate to provide you more because of the necessity to have you do proper research prior to making statements as this. Might be the case in some other country but not here. You are confusing a great deal of bad information. I suggest you look on the US immigration web site. Birthright is only applicable when the parents are legal US citizens already. The child only then, has the "right at birth" to have the same citizenship as the parents and all the protections thereof.

SMSgt Billy Cesarano - I was an Immigration Inspector and Officer for 25 years. I was taught Immigration Law at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Brunswick, Georgia. I was tested every week in the law, where to find the law and the meanings therein. Jus Soli is a fact of law found in the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1952 and contains those laws in evvect as of 10/20/2020 which reads:

Cpl (Join to see) - They just executed a guy who killed his wife, daughters and mom and dad. He deserves to die! Asshats were protesting outside the prison that the gov't doesn't have the right to execute but the guy in prison can do that to another person(s). The hell with that an eye for an eye. The death penalty insure that that person will never murder another human being.

I'm a firm believer in the death penalty, but I believe the standards should be modified a bit. Sentencing for death should be a super-majority of jurors and if someone is caught red-handed or they make a confession, the death penalty should be quick, no decades of appeals and/or soaking up tax payer freebies while on death row.

SMSgt Billy Cesarano, there are two other “writings” that don’t necessarily embody what it means to be an American citizen, but for me, they express the way I feel about how I’ve tried to live as an American citizen. The first is the oath of office I took to become a commissioned officer (2LT, USAR) on 16JUN73. The second is the creed of Auburn University, my alma mater. It was written in 1943. The words read easy, but it is a hard creed by which to live. I’ve failed it many times, yet nonetheless, it is an excellent map for the road of life.

And now, I too am an Auburn fan. Strange, in all the Auburn alumni I've known, this is the first mention of such a great document, is it still used?. That period of time in US history begat our greatest generation, to which the world is indebted. I think that was the singular turning point for myself as well, my enlisted induction oath. Each word was so intensely gripping on my psyche that I had to fully and completely understand what I was committing to the defense of. I am better for it and hope to effect enlightenment on a few more before I pass the tourch.

The Auburn Creed is now more popular than ever, SMSgt Billy Cesarano. Portions of it will appear on the scoreboard during football games, with famous Auburn personalities speaking various lines. Auburn people know it or have heard it. They may not always mention it outside the Auburn family though. At one time, Auburn was supposedly the only university with a creed. Who knows?
