Too much competition?
You have over twelve years of movies and people may have moved on.

I remember I went To the command and general staff officer course face three. After we finished our course, we all decided to go see Star Trek Beyond. We had Majors from 32 to 56 years old. After the movie was over we want to go eat dinner. Many of the majors were not familiar with the reboot of star trek. I didn't know who captain kirk was. They didn't know who Mr. Spock was. They had no idea who scotty was.

These were soldiers who had grown up with star trek next generation, Star trek voyager, Star Trek Deep Space Nine and Star Trek Enterprise.

What we realized That over the decades, different officers saw different star trek franchises and didn't know the original.

We were surprised that so many officers didn't know about the reboot and couldn't relate to the original Star Trek series.

I hope my analogy showing
time and how Star Trek affected us may be affecting the Marvel franchise?

Marvel movies are just OK IMO. First they are based in comic book characters so that cuts down the percentage of folks who have any concept of the characters. Second they are oriented to those who think computer generated action is awesome, but, given that probably is also their comic book base, it's acceptable. Finally, with the cost of movies today, the comic book reading, computer generated action lovers can't afford to go to the theaters so wait until a movie streams.

First and foremost, the 'star' Brie Larson, made it clear she really didn't care for the character or the stories.

Second, it's just a terrible story line.

I'll admit to living under a rock. I had no clue this movie was coming out ... in fact, I had no clue about this movie at all until I read your post.

I was tracking Echo, the next Aquaman, and another Captain America coming next year ... but "Marvels"? Not a hint.

I'm a fan of pretty much any of the Marvel movies (at least to watch them once), so I have to disagree with the comment in the article, "But come on, it’s not like superhero and Marvel fans didn’t know it was coming." I guess I could be the exception to that statement, but I don't think so.

Besides, I thought the next uber-villain in the MCU was supposed to be Kang.
