I expect you helped others much in the past and that you will listen carefully to others to know how best you can assist them in the future Jack.
I pray that you and I earnestly seek guidance from the LORD regularly and that we pay attention to HIS prompting, my brother-in-Christ CW5 Jack Cardwell.
LORD, I pray that YOU bless each one of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who read this prayer with eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart sensitive to YOU Holy Spirit. Give each one of ability to understand how we can help others. Enable us to discern the sincere desires of their soul that we can assist them to accomplish.
I thank YOU for YOUR Word. YOU admonish us to love our neighbor as ourselves and to treat others as we would like to be treated.
I lift the members of Congress, parliaments, judges, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Chancellors, Kings and Queens to YOU. I pray that YOU prompt each one clearly to pay attention to the citizens, constituents, and children in their areas of responsibility. Give the people a voice that is selfless, clear, and compelling.
I lift the governors of New York, California, Washington state, Michigan, Virginia and elsewhere that taking advantage of the pandemic response to ignore constitutional rights of free speech and second amendment rights. I pray the state and Federal courts judges will be blessed with wisdom as they rule on these issues raised by constituents.
LORD I pray that we each are becoming more responsible and more selfless as days go by. I pray that people focus more on acting responsibly.
I pray that each one of YOUR adopted children and their loved ones sleep well Tuesday night.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

COL Mikel Burroughs good read/share: for the Colonel's Motivational Quotes of the Day. Where the mighty American Bald Eagles roam in the mighty ROCKY MOUNTAINS OF CASTLE ROCK, COLORADO AMONG THEIR EAGLES-NEST. I know the view must be MAGNIFICENT on this day April 21, 2020 as you might glance upon the mighty snow capped mountains headed into the month of August. As you know I would respond a lot throughout the week, but I am full-time DOD employee doing contracts for the Defense Contracting Management Agency. It is good to have sometime before I start my day.
Today's theme is “Doing for Others Day!” IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A QUESTION ALL MUST ASK THEMSELVES!

Good Morning, Brother Joe Davis ~
MLK being a preacher was sure to underscore the love and good works required of us all.
Here he makes his commitment to such things clear by simply reminding others of this requirement, not as a commandment but as an encouragement to those who listened to his oration.
Have a blessed day, my friend.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs here is a share to go along with the read/share today my friend.
Martin Luther King Jr. Speech on Serving
This is a portion of a speech that Martin Luther King Jr did on Jesus' teaching on being a servant (Mark 10:35-45). The speech was called "The Drum Major Instinct." The title is based off the idea that we all have an internal desire to be first, to be out ahead, to be great, like a drum major. Dr. King says that these desires aren't bad, they just need to be used correctly. We can be first in love and justice.
On Monday night (1.17), Campus Life discussed how we can serve those around us and help meet the needs that are present in our community. We talked about how we can truly be great by being a servant.
If you are looking for ways to serve, join Campus Life this semester as we serve the community through our STRIVE workday, or join us on our Spring Break service trip in Chicago.

Good morning COL Mikel J. Burroughs A great topic today. I am a big believer in "doing for others" Service is what I have done all my adult life and I am pleased to be able to continue it now. What I have learned is that sometimes it is not the "big" service that counts but the small stuff that stays with and is meaningful to someone. That small thing can make a big difference to someone else. That "check in", a card, a text, a phone call are especially precious right now while we are isolated. Is there someone who could use your time and attention today? Is there something you can do for someone else?

What we do defines us as who or what we are. If you have no time to help others, WHY? Remember excuses are free but helping others cost but the rewards for your mind and inner being are richly rewarded.

Good Morning, Colonel Burroughs ~ The author of your quote is nearly correct.
Replace the words "may be" with the affirmative "will" and he is dead on target.
We are commanded to love one another and to do good unto one another many times throughout the New Testament. Some come by this trait naturally while most others must be told.
If we were, to be honest with ourselves, we would admit that we do the best things more frequently to those we love and not so much nor at all for those we don't, hence the goodness to be done in this world is stymied by our own will. But it is the will of the Lord to love one another, even to pray for our enemies and when we do this, we are carrying out his commandment which will be judged on that great day. But where does it say we are accountable for our actions good or bad?
Ecclesiastes 12:14 clearly states that all of our deeds, good or bad are tracked and we shall be held accountable for them.
Observe: "For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."
Where and when is this judgment? John 5:29 tells us in conjunction with Hebrews 9:27 and Revelation 20:11-13
Heb 9:27 "For it is appointed unto man once to die, and after that, the judgment"
John 5:29 "And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
Rev 20:11-13 "11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works."
There is no 'maybe' about it and man must take care to do the will of the Lord which is to be kind to one another. Rom 12:10, Eph 4:31 & 32.
Thank you for the opportunity to expound on this most important requirement in the life of every soul and as always, it is my profound hope that you and all of the RP community stay well during this dangerous time. Have a blessed day, my friend!

COL Mikel J. Burroughs - Thank you for your kind remarks and I am grateful for the opportunity this forum presents to freely express such thoughts. Your topic today is the core of the Sermon on the Mount which serves as the centerpiece of the ministry of Christ and the urge to expound upon such topics as a Bible teacher and regular preacher is to me, irresistible. Good day COL Mikel Burroughs and all the rest of my RP Family. It is going to be a nice day in Waco, Texas today. Today’s topic has been one that occupies my mind frequently. Why do we do good or bad things for others? Why should we do good and do in secretly and who should get the credit. I don’t believe that doing good for someone is something that we do to make ourselves look good, rather when we do good, we should do it secretly and do it for the purpose of bringing Glory to God. It is He that has blessed us with the gifts that allow us to help others. That being said, doing bad to others is not what God would want from us, for He says that Vengeance is His, so I for one do not want to usurp His will. The below article says it all quite nicely for me. Have a blessed day today and always, my friends and family.

Should or should we not let our good works be seen?
Matthew 5:16; I Peter 2:12 and Matthew 6:1-4; Matthew 23:3, 5
Show good works
(Matthew 5:16) - "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
(1 Peter 2:12) - "Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation."
Don't show good works
(Matthew 6:1-4) - "Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. 2So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 3"But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you."
(Matthew 23:3,5) - "therefore all that they tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds; for they say things and do not do them...But they do all their deeds to be noticed by men; for they broaden their phylacteries and lengthen the tassels of their garments."
As with any piece of literature, to best understand its statements you must read them in context. The Bible is no different. Matthew 5:16 is in the context of the beatitudes (Matt. 5:1 - 7:29) where Jesus is teaching proper, good, and moral behavior. Disciples of Jesus are to be lights; that is, doers of good. 1 Peter 2:12 is where Peter is admonishing the Christians to live godly and holy lives before the unbelievers. We Christians live in the world among unbelievers and they are going to see how we live. Peter is telling us to act properly with unbelievers so that false accusations will not stand against us because we have lived with integrity among them.
By contrast, Jesus in Matthew 6:1-4, which is still in the same beatitudes where He told people to let their light shine before people (5:16) is stating that if the motive of doing something good is to be noticed by people, then don't do that. Don't boast about how "good" you are before people. That is wrong. There is nothing wrong with doing good works that will be seen before people, after all, we live among unbelievers. However, when you do good things, don't do them for the purpose of drawing attention to how "good" you are.
Likewise in Matthew 23:3, 5 Jesus is addressing the crowds and teaching them about the hypocrisy of the Scribes and Pharisees and how they do their deeds in order to be noticed and admired. Jesus condemned this as is right.
People are supposed to notice your good works because your good character permeates them, not because of your attempt to have them see how "good" and "great" you are. The former is humility. The latter is prideful and wrong. The context of each verse tells us this.
Note: scripture quotes are from the NASB.

Gene, I absolutely agree. Acts of charity should be done without drawing attention to yourself. Modern culture uses so called charity as a scorecard to show what a fine human you are. It has nothing to do with the true meaning of charity.
Matthew 6:2 When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do–blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get.
