Actually it seems the other way around. Other countries are bribing us to go green. Ever consider that the majority of successful EVs come from Europe and China is the world leader in the economy box version of EVs?
And you seem to ignore the fact that US munitions producers are working full till to produce munitions to sell to those NATO nations and refill those ordinance igloos that we left empty when we pulled out of Europe.

CPT (Join to see) EVs from anywhere don't meet my desires at this stage, but that will most likely change in 10 or so years. I'm seeing lots of Teslas around here, but they're small and a vehicle with essentially a laptop sticking up from the dash isn't appealing to me.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen Some of them can do nine second quarter mile and beat a 1050 horsepower 2023 Dodge Challenger Hellcat 170, but they can't drive five hundred miles across country without charging a couple times. Then there is a balloon payment at 7 or 8 years when you need to replace the battery and it's over $20k. The big problem is disposing of the car. The rare earth medals of lithium and other rare Earth metals are very toxic. Even refining, the metal has to be sent out of the country to China to get done around EPA regulations in place before Trump took office. So what's this about going green and killing chinese factory workers instead?

LTC (Join to see) I want no part of them today, but then I would have wanted no part of the Ford Model A when it first came out either. Time and technology will overcome all the problems you mention, and make them undesirable to me, but there's no stopping improvements to eliminate today's issues, just as there was no stopping the advancement of the ICE when that first Ford rolled off the line.

CPT (Join to see) - THAT made me chuckle. The last time I saw a Lada was on the 'autobahn' in East Germany. It was being chased by the Volkspolizei for speeding while I passed both of them. I was driving my military vehicle, which was an OD green Volkswagen 181 (more commonly known in America as the VW Thing).
