Our family has driven by it a dozen times.
We saw the smoke yesterday evening thinking it was a major truck fire on the nearby freeway.
This is how dilapidated it looked before it caught on fire.
In 1943, 500 aircraft landed here one day in Edmonton on the way to Russia as part of the lend- lease.
Because the building was pretty much abandoned, We worry if it was broken into and set on fire by druggies/homeless. It could have also been old wiring that caused the fire.This is just speculation on my part. We have homeless, but not as bad as California.

Pretty sure I've been in that hangar. We brought a FB-111 to Edmonton for an Air show in the late 70s and pretty sure that was where we all checked in and got schedules, etc. There are still a few of those WWII hangars in use, we have one here at MacDill AFB, but I saw it may be on the chopping block as they build new hangars to support the KC-46. Hope it survives.

Good to know you've been there before. I forgot to attach the original story.But it's been updated since I saw it this morning. There are Night pictures and it looks like the burning of the King Kong set in the movie Gone with the Wind.
