A surge of illegal homemade machine guns has helped fuel gun violence in the US

SrA John Monette - Isn't it obvious, They won't be modified weapons. The will be real 'machine guns. They can even be bely fed, if desired. Old CNC machines can be bought cheap and programmed to do most of the work in a one car garage. How will you locate them, without using Gestapo tactics?

SPC Michael Terrell - 800 year old technology. I've seen films of a Pathan tribesman making an AK47 out of an axle with a charcoal forge, a hacksaw, drill and a file. The Philippines has a very active underground arms manufacturing tradition also.

CPT Lawrence Cable - Agreed, but my point was that it isn't difficult to machine metal. Years ago, I bought a floor stand drill press at a steep discount, because it was 'the last one', and some cast metal parts weren't completely machined. I used several types of files and other metalworking tools to make everything fit. One piece had obvious marks from a broken cutting tool that had snapped off before completing the operation. That was almost 25 years ago, ant I still have it in my shop. I added a foot switch to control the motor, since I often have to work one handed.

L your thinking like a Law abiding citizen. Since when do criminals even consider laws. A fully automatic AR is not a ranged weapon. the recoil causes more bullets to go up and sideways, a waste of ammo. A weapon on auto is a spray and pray device used as a last resort, close in. Just like these "bangers" are doing. Used to terrorize the people living there to comply with the Gang "Lord's" wishes. The solution is Law Enforcement and incarceration to remove the the gangs, or targeted self defense. Not the removal of the tools required to enable the people to protect their homes and families. Did anyone shoot back at the car(s)? Targeting another Human is not easy, that's why the military trains with human silhouettes to desensitize troops to shoot anyway. Very few people have the ability/curse to be able to shoot another with out hesitation. And, I went sideways with this comment. Criminals just don't care about societal norms.
