My comment - "When the government website on this subject it encompasses the summary provided by the various news outlets. What it doesn't cover is flushing out the rules by non-elected bureaucrats. Remember the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act consisted of 848 pages in the original bill. It was assigned to unelected bureaucrats who created 243 rules, 67 studies, and 22 periodic reports from the financial industries. The 848 bill grew to over 4,000 pages.
Perhaps the administration wants to slow the US development of AI and leave China and India with a technological advantage. The bottom line is more expense to the taxpayer with less results in keeping ahead of the curve on technology. Is this in the best interest of the United States and "we the people?"

I agree about how a proposed law can become overinflated, but with approximately 330+ million population and approximately 32.6 million businesses in the U.S, it is probably necessary to cover every type of business that needs to be addressed and how to go about that. We cannot have one law, one requirement, to fit in every case. The law must spell out who is to be covered, why, and how.
So, bottom line is, do we need the law and what is the impact with that law and without that law.
Example: Back in the '90's I had a horse boarding business. There were 3 state regulations, 2 county regulations, and 2 Federal regulations covering that. In 1998 I opened a small pawn shop, sporting goods, and equine equipment store. That had 17 state, 12 county, and 15 Federal regulations.
Our nation has grown to the point that nothing in the area of government can or should be simple.
So, bottom line is, do we need the law and what is the impact with that law and without that law.

SFC Casey O'Mally - More sarcasm. I did not say anything about the President creating laws. If you read the article, it states this EO is to set guidelines and establish standards.

I don't see any attempt to write laws there.

MSG Stan Hutchison - Your correct in stating that this is an Executive Order. However it still has to be followed as if it is a law unless it is overturned by the Supreme Court or the EO is cancelled by the current, or next administration POTUS.
