CMSgt (Join to see) What a crock of $hit. Discharge them and be through with it. Save the taxpayers a bundle of money.

CMSgt (Join to see) since they cannot meet the needs of the branch they should be discharged immediately.

So should pregnant females, then. And any Soldier who is ever on profile. And basic trainees. And anyone who takes bereavement leave. Or any leave, really.

It doesn't matter if you will be able to do the job next year next month or even next week. If you cannot meet the FULL needs of the branch TODAY, sayonara, sucker!

SFC Casey O'Mally - this is not that. pregnancy, broken limbs, deaths in the family is not permanent. transgenderism is. they will always need medical/pharmaceutical care. I as a diabetic would also be chaptered out.

SGT Jim Arnold Non-deployability while transitioning is ALSO not permanent.

I developed sleep apnea while still in the Army (IMHO due to toxic exposures in Iraq, but no "proof"). For the last 6 years of my career, I had diagnosed and documented sleep apnea (It had been going on longer, but took me forever to get a sleep study.) Required a medical device for that entire time. Deployed with it, too! I needed consistent medical care for the last 6 years. For the last 5 years I was depressed with consistent psychiatric care and prescription medicine. Deployed like that, too.

The transition period it exactly that - a period. It is not permanent. And we have plenty of folks who are on prescription drugs for long periods - even permanently. We have plenty of folks who need Ling term medical care (like physical therapy) who are capable of doing their jobs, and even deploying while STILL UNDER CARE.

Horsenuggets...so much for readiness. Let's see...I wnat to get out of deployments so now I am a sex other than whats between my legs. Yeah, that works. NOT...you are wearing the uniform you meet the PT standards, the deployment standards etcor you pack your $#!+ and go home. By you not doing that someone else now has to pick up your slack because you made a non readiness choice. Someone else who probably just got back from deployment and seeing their newborn child for the first time has to quick turn cause you can't make up your mind who you are. This is just sick and we wonder why we have a problem with retention and recruiting!

SGT Jim Arnold - I have to admit...I have steered kids to trade school versus joining the miltary...not the same military I nor my uncle or my grandfather were in...too much woke and not enough readiness!

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth Sir,

Do you feel the same way about a guy who breaks his leg skiing while on leave?

Or the gal who has sex before deployment orders come down, but finds out she is pregnant AFTER they come down?

Or the guy who KNOWS he has PTSD but re-enlists yet refuses to get help, thinking he can keep fighting back the demons on his own. Then when the deployment orders come down, the dam bursts and he finally succumbs, checking himself in to behavioral health with suicidal ideations?

All of those are cases where a person made choices which caused them to be non-deployable.

If you support any or all of the above Soldiers, but not the trans Soldier, please tell me how they are materially different.
