Good morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the November 14th edition of Astronomy PIcture of the Day (APOD): "NGC 7380: The Wizard Nebula." Located some 8,000 light years away from Earth in the northern constellation Cepheus, NGC 7380 is a cluster of stars discovered by William Herschel's sister Caroline in 1787. The nebula surrounding these stars is commonly known as the Wizard Nebula. I'm guessing (since I don't have an Instagram account and cannot see if the astrophotographer left any notes) that both Hα and SII (hydrogen and sulfur) filters were used to produce this image. I'll post a second image in a separate comment where the stars embedded in the nebula are more clearly seen.
I can almost see the top of Gandalf's hat and his two hands extended to the right as he conjures up the next batch of celestial fireworks. Almost.
