Good to read that it's "World Elder Abuse Awareness Day"--I must be living under a rock, as I wasn't aware of such a day, but I'm glad to see it. When my yellow lab Max was alive, I took him every fortnight to spend an afternoon at the Elder Care and Home near where I lived in Tustin, California.
Max LOVED hanging out with the elders, and they sure loved him! It warmed my heart to watch their interaction, and they looked forward to our visits every two weeks. When Max died, the residents got together and made a little shrine of remembrance for him, and it helped me get through a lot of that loss, knowing Max had left something of himself with so many people.
