You want to see gun control in action? Visit the firing range at a BCT camp. I had been raised with firearms and understood what was going on. Sadly, most (especially the kids from the city who thought they knew it all) didn't have a clue and had to have firearms safety and respect beaten into them. That's why I support early age training in gun safety and civics classes that actually teach children to respect their rights and the rights of others. Only then are we qualified to be free citizens with the right to keep and bear arms. At the same time, I will fight to the death for the Constitution and resist every attempt to infringe on my right to keep and bear arms.

In BIT the ones who consistently dropped their rifles were those who never had any experience with firearms.

I was raised around firearms from an early age and was taught to respect them and not treat them as a toy. also they were not locked up

We keep backing away from the societal problem. As with most of us, my dad taught us. His dad taught him. I taught mine.
For some unexplained reason we have elevated single parenthood to the level of sainthood. If we can't, or won't, crack that nut we will continue as we are. In the meantime, we should return to teaching firearm safety and personal accountability in school as many schools used to. Teaching accountability and gun safety seems a lot more important to a free society than grooming future drag queens and other perversions.

Honestly, this makes no sense. During the early 50's here if you walked into any sporting goods store you would see tables loaded with .30 calibers and Garands. The pistols (1911's) were kept in a cabinet, but still forsale. I'm thinking if the article is true, it's reflective of more recent thinking. Audie Murphy slept with a loaded pistol under his pillow. He also lent his 30 caliber to a friend during the Watts riots in the mid 60's so he would have protection.

Times change and so do people. I also remember when you go into an airport and see your family off without security but that changed 20 years ago .

Even up to the late 60s early 70s you could go into Sears , Montgomery Wards or Western Auto And Buy Guns, You Could Even Get Them Mail Order, In 68 My Father Ordered A M-1 Carbine Out Of A Magazine, A Couple of Weeks Later It Was Delivered By The Mail Man , There Was A Whole Lot Less Mass Shootings Back Then, So What Changed?
