At this moment, there is no Road use tax for electric vehicles. Electric vehicles get a free ride while Americans pay high gasoline taxes in California has gasoline taxes over a $1. 25 a gallon.
Fossil fuel is a four-letter word for many environmentalists. They don't want to include nuclear or Natural Gas.
Natural gas is abundant in the USA as well as oil. It's going to take awhile before we are able to make our own solar-powered panels and Equipment because right now most of it gets made in communist China. How convenient is that?
Canada has a similar problem, many provinces in Canada despise oil even though Canada has the third largest oil Reserve in the world. The pipelines are fought tooth and nail by other provinces and by the environmental groups. They don't realize how much money the oil Revenue goes to the Canadian coffers. Getting rid of the oil industry will get rid of at least five hundred billion dollars in royalties over the years. Does this mean you're going to also start charging a road tax as well?
The broke-ass provinces of British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec use oil Revenue money from Alberta and Saskatchewan. Just think, too provinces with less than 6 million people pay the to support the other 36 million.
I am posting this so Americans can see how loyal royalties or royalties and general from fossil fuels helps with paying for things we expect with entitlements even before the entitlement Biden Administration giving free money for people who don't deserve it.
Don't let the Democrats fool you oh, nothing is free! Any of these social welfare porks packages take money from one sector to give it to another. It infringes upon Industries or people to give money to those people who do and who don't deserve it.

I have no problem with modern technology and transitioning to some other fuel source but doing so only when the time is right. Look what's happening in California having rolling blackouts last summer and now the European Union suffering the same problem because they're shutting down existing nuclear plants or switching over to wind power and all of a sudden the wind stops! The analogy of a dystopian future was a Will Smith movie that came out showing if everything is computerized and there is no alternate way. Look how Will Smith had a motorcycle that was gas powered when everything was electrical in the future.

There is a political movement growing in Alberta to strip this balance of payments. The other provinces don't want to support the pipeline and the oil industry so they're fighting back to try to keep the money within the province. It's an uphill battle and I'll probably never happen but it goes to show that the same people want to kill the industry but want the money that Alberta gets from oil royalties.
