On October 2, 1965, a team of scientists invent Gatorade, a sports drink to quench thirst, in a University of Florida lab. The name "Gatorade" is derived from the nickname of the university's sports teams. Eventually, the drink becomes a phenomenon and makes its inventors wealthy.

Gatorade is legendary as a sports drink. There have been many imitators over the years but none come close to the effectiveness and popularity of Gatorade. Imagine how it would have been named if it had been invented at Florida State University. The land of if the Seminoles would have had a problem coming up with a name. Who would buy a drink made by the Half-Noles?

Go Gators... I've been there... I love small towns with gigantic colleges... they are always filled with energy and culture.... Gainsville is an awesome town and the Florida Gators stay quenched lol...
