Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Along the Milky Way." I'll add a word for the day as well: congeries. As in "congeries (collection) of stars." That truly is the difference between the naked eye and a telescope on a moonless night. Happy summer night stargazing.

The Church - Under The Milky Way

Thank you my friend Maj William W. 'Bill' Price for posting the NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) for Saturday, July 3, 2021 entitled "Along the Milky Way."

Very superimposed of a nice profile of who I expect is Rolf Weisenfeld gazing through a telescopic to honor Galileo with a view of part of the Milky Way as a backdrop. Since the solar system we are part of is on an outer ring of the Milky Way we can view it as well as being included within the Milk Way.

Glory to God for HIS design of all creation.

APOD Background
"Explanation: You can't walk along the Milky Way. Still, under a dark sky you can explore it. To the eye the pale luminous trail of light arcing through the sky on a dark, moonless night does appear to be a path through the heavens. The glowing celestial band is the faint, collective light of distant stars cut by swaths of obscuring interstellar dust clouds. It lies along the plane of our home galaxy, so named because it looks like a milky way. Since Galileo's time, the Milky Way has been revealed to telescopic skygazers to be filled with congeries of innumerable stars and cosmic wonders"
