It can be hard to define, but if you know enough autistic people there are some obvious patterns. How many of the common 63 autistic traits apply to you? If you know one person with autism (or on the autism spectrum) you know one person...every single one of them is an individual. There may be some common traits that you learn to recognize and as a therapist, I usually do. BTW, people are not autistic; they have autism or their behavior is on the autism spectrum.
