Good afternoon, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "The Galaxy, the Planet, and the Apple Tree." You can likely see something similar off of Alan K.'s back deck during the summertime (taken in June 2020). Looking south from Dover, Nova Scotia, this composite image captures the constellation Scorpius (Antares) on the right, Milky Way in the center, and Jupiter (left) impersonating an ornament hanging in an apple tree. The astro-photographer (Kristine Rose) lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and advertises her work on a personal web site. It's worth a look (she is quite talented) if you'd like a short mental vacation from heat, rain, or both.
