As vets, we sometimes fall prey to two fallacies regarding self-defense: First, that our previous training is a "good fit" for civil self-defense; Second, that these are not "perishable" skills that become less effective over time without recurrent training. "Room clearing" (if not the compendium of CQB itself) is geared towards small unit tactics / direct action, and precludes the most obvious choices for a private individual. My sense of it is that in most cases (there are always exceptions)...it would be best to let the "bad guys" worry about which "fatal funnel" I may be set up behind. A little forethought...like understanding the routes someone entering my house in the dead of night would logically take, and ensuring they're not getting between myself and a family member...goes a long way.
