Memories also of a march in Korea - by the time we stopped for chow, the black girl walking nearest me was literally white from alllll the dust. No memory of how long it was - just knew it was toooooo long! And my first experience with C-rats - from WW11 I believe. little tin cans of suspicious-looking "stuff". BUT there were smokes!! Marlboros, even!

a tutorial documentary on the hash house harriers, a drinking club with a running problem. Created by Sean Baello and George Boe
Good Sunday, November 17, 2017 evening my friend SGT John " Mac " McConnell and thank you for making us aware that November 17th is National Take a Hike Day. I have certainly been through my share of ruck marches :-)
My favorite hikes have bene participating in Volksmarches in Germany
second favorite is Hash House Harriers which I participated in Columbus, Georgia while stationed at Fort Benning
"Hash House Harriers is a “drinking club with a running problem.” Hashing is derived from the old British public school game of “Hounds and Hares”. The Hash House Harriers is/are a global network of “kennels”, where people meet to enjoy some of the basic pleasures life has to offer; the great outdoors, exercise (light or vigorous), fraternity, laughter, beer! We meet, travel to a nearby “Start” and then follow a marked trail across/through/over/under/around; streams / marshes / trails / hills / paths / farms / jungles / villages / etc. to a secret location, “the finish”, where miraculously – a cooler full of ice-cold beer (and soft drinks), suddenly appears."
