Do We Need Our Country Anymore?

Every time I hear the cry for a "One World Government" I ask, What would it look like? For a time, no one bothered to answer. Now I hear the response, Like the European Union. Okay, let's submit to an unelected bureaucracy dictating every aspect of our lives and commerce. Thanks, but no thanks. How about socialism? Well, I'm still waiting for one of its advocates to demonstrate that they understand what they're talking about. And when we point to the history of socialism and its abject failure in every instance where its been attempted, they have nothing new to offer. They merely cry that those others simply "didn't do it right!" Right? Right... Why then don't I advocate that the world adopt our Constitutional Republic. Just let every other nation become a state of the United States. Nope. That won't work. Talk to those who come here illegally and never apply for citizenship or learn the rudiments of the American culture preferring instead to live the same life they led in whatever place they fled. Talk to the Dreamers who believe they are owed that which we worked for. No one, not even those born here, are owed a damn thing except the right to keep what they earn. Sadly, many born here aren't being taught that lesson and are all too willing to surrender their freedom of speech and action in exchange for freedom from responsibility for themselves. So, do we need our country anymore? Doubtless, many will respond "No!" For those of us who love and value our freedom and are ready, willing, and able to take responsibility for our choices, our words, and our actions, the answer must be "Yes!"
