CW5 Jack Cardwell - Sir, I mean no disrespect but I just wanted to comment and ask a general question to the users of RallyPoint.

As one of the senior user admins of RallyPoint, I have the chance to see a lot of different posts and things. One issue that has been boiling up more and more, that is the misuse of tags. Here in this thread, you tagged a dozen or so people. You did not give any sort of thought or idea as to how you felt towards the article or as to why we should read it. Yes, it is an article that a lot of users of RallyPoint would be interested in, however, the misuse of tags takes away from your post.

On RallyPoint, we allow users to tag their posts into certain groups, just as you have done; which is great. That means that normally, the people that follow tags will see your post and be more up to commenting on the article. However, when you tag a bunch of groups and then follow up that up with tagging dozens of people; it appears as though you are "Point chasing". You are by no means the only person that does this. It is something that I have been raising to the attention of other admins and is something that we must look into. The point of mentioning someone is more so about addressing them rather than getting their attention; as I did at the start of my post here.

While I am all for people to share articles and ideas here, I am asking that we all put some more time into them. If you are going to share an article then at least tell us what you find interesting. Get the discussion rolling. Don't just tag a bunch of people. And if you are going to comment on a post; don't just write "Great share"; tell us WHY it was a great share. This will help continue to drive RallyPoint as the go-to place for service members and veterans to come to share thoughts, ideas, and news that directly impacts us.
