A wise man nourishes his soul each morning with the word of God and enriches his day with God's wisdom. Psalm 19:7
What you put into your heart and your mind, count just as much as what you put into your body. Feed your heart on kindness and your mind on wisdom and they will be as strong and healthy as your body on wholesome food and exercise.
What can you do to improve your nourishment today to strengthen yourself and/or your loved ones?

COL Mikel J. Burroughs "Nourishment Day" often this is not given proper concideration and application. The body needs proper nourishment, both what we eat and how much we eat (oh the stories I could tell). But we give little consider nourishment for the mind, soul and even emotions (yes tough guy, emotions). Time in the word of God, some poetry and prose, Beethoven or Poverotti, some time in meditation, enriching the soul, lowering the blood pressure. And guys, nourishing the skin (am I really saying this) I have learned the hard way. Then let us not forget nourishing our relationships. Depriving ourselves of proper nourishment is in effect, depriving ourselves of a healthy life.

CPL Dave Hoover All profound thoughts. In the area of nourishing the skin, I'm doing that about three times a day for my new Tattoo and the weather is very dry out here in Colorado, so both me and the wife use Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion on a regular basis. You have a great day my friend!

Well-stated my friend and brother-in-Christ CPL Dave Hoover and I concur with your statement "Time in the word of God, some poetry and prose, Beethoven or Pavarotti, some time in meditation [on something worthy of dwelling on], enriching the soul, lowering the blood pressure.

Good day my friend and brother-in-Christ COL Mikel J. Burroughs Since the focus today is on Nourishment, the LORD reminded me that physical food can nourish the body for a time. The Bread of Life is the Christ which is the permanent [for this age] manna from Heaven. Those who taste of the Bread of Life shall be forever nourished spiritually.

As a man who was diagnosed with adult-onset diabetes at age 60, I have had to adjust my food intake significantly. That followed GERD which cut chocolate from my diet and fruit burns my throat:-)

Our metabolism for physical nourishment requirements changes over time - usually before our appetite adjusts :-)

The Word of God is both the Christ and the words in the Bible. As we read HIS word HE blesses us for time and eternity.

John 6: 32-40; 43-51 NASB.
Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven. “For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.” Then they said to Him, “Lord, always give us this bread.”
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. “But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe. “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. “This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”
43Jesus answered and said to them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. “It is written in the prophets, ‘AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT OF GOD.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. “Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. “I am the bread of life. “Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. “This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. “I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”

Images of nourishment:
1975-03 FT Leonard Wood, MO - AIT - B-2-4 Enlisted Man Club -celebrating graduation from AIT. When I was young nourishment included alcohol.
Eating with our sons was a factor throughout their childhood - either at home and sometimes at a restaurant.
2003-03-18 LTG Mahan - The Army G-4 came by to visit. He speaks fluent Spanish and was very gracious to my wife. Eating after mitral valve surgery was impossible until all the fluid drained from me. I remember how good a saltine tasted after 4 days of nothing.
16 Sep 2005. Steve & Maria Elena Ford at Table #1 25th reunion for USMA Class of 1980. Meals at the West Point reunion tend to be wonderful for both the food and the fellowship.
