I knew a guy in Ohio who would not turn on the heat until it snowed there separate times. He gave his two daughters one cup of cold water to wash with and kept a pan under all the faucet to catch any drips. He collecred balls at the golf course and sold them to to family menbers just short of clubhouse prices. His home was a maze of newspapers stacked to the ceiling which he would sell once a week. He gave his grandchildren dried up nail polish from dumpsters. He gave my uncle, his son-in-law, one can of skunky Hamm's beer, the cheapest in Ohio. It was mental illness. When he died, he had nearly a hundred thousand dollars in cash hidden in the house. On his person, he had a bank account book with over 600,000! They found even more under floor boards. It is a real sickness.

I find it amazing the things that money or (lack of) will make a person do. She wrote a check for $1.1M and yet searched for a $0.02 stamp. She had the money to have her son taken care of but instead he lost his leg. She was either EXTREMELY frugal or plain ol "BAT-CRAP crazy."
