Warthog replacement anyone? Former Air Force officers say to think beyond light attack aircraft

Such hypocrisy in the Air Force! They want to spend money to replace the A-10 Warthog with a light unarmored plane called the sky Raider 2. This is so stupid! You never know in a low threat environment if someone's going to have a 50 cal/12.7 mm or 20 mm Cannon and shoot that plane down and kill its pilot! The brainiacs in the Air Force don't mind spending 160 billion dollars over budget for the Junk Strike Fighter but they have a problem keeping the A-10 Warthog flying for another 30 years.
These know-it-alls in the Air Force also want to keep the B-52 flying for another three decades yet they don't want to keep the A-10 Warthog flying?
Lately, there's been a lot of bad mistakes being made in the military. Here are the Gerald R Ford aircraft carrier cost 16 billion dollars plus yet they could have kept the Enterprise going for another 10 years invested money in that for probably half that much. The Air Force has no problem throwing away a $165 billion dollars and making a fat plane that is stealthy but not able to defend itself in a dogfight.
I am so upset that time and time again the efforts of Senator John McCain and Congresswoman, who is also ( much to the USAF's frustration) the former A-10 Warthog squadron commander Martha McSally who can't be lied to by the USAF brass. Close Air Support is again being threatened by the military industrial complex that wants to put all that money into the F-35 fiscal black hole and not maintain it in the A-10 Warthog. The Air Force and the science of stupid.
It seems like this is someone's pet project and they want to make a name for themselves before they retire but yet they're going to have blood on their hands what is Pilots, soldiers and Marines killed on the ground due to a lack of a decent platform like the A-10 Warthog.

The ‘Hawg ain’t sexy & the Air FARCE doesn’t give a fuck about CAS or grunts unless we’re coming to save their shot up asses.

This makes no sense. IMHO the problem is that the AF doesn't want the close air support mission BUT they don't want anyone else to take it on. Stupid. Put up or shut up.

Fat fingering on a tablet struck. What I was trying to say is that if JCS declared CAS an Air Force responsibility a dedicated platform for this mission would make it's way into the AF budget IMO.

Lt Col Charlie Brown As I said earlier, the AF has been trying to dump the Warthog since the end of the Cold War. The Hog drivers relish the job but the fast mover Fighter Jocks that rule the AF have always loathed the slow, ugly platform. I doubt that it could even be built with the Jet Jock mentality we have now. And NOTHING else in the sky can do what it does so well!

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - I agree with you second statement. IF, and that is a BIG IF, the AF was formally tasked with the CAS mission we would have something besides the F-35. Just my 2 cents.

The sad thing is that we have been trying to dump the Warthog since the end of the Cold War. I'm glad there is enough support to keep the A-10 flying for now. I hate to see it got to the Army but before we actually retire her the Army Aviation side needs to pick this bird up and keep her airborne.

The Army will take it too if they changed the GD Key West agreement only allowing the Army to fly Helicopters and light planes signed on March 14, 1948.

TSgt David L. yeah... i think the Marines would snatch up the Hawg & maybe speed up the transition to the F-35 by scaling back on AV-8B
